The "Performance Path"
Showing compliance to the new Michigan Uniform Energy Code is easier than you think, and Great Lakes Home Performance has a perfect solution to make it even easier.

STEP 1
PLAN REVIEW
Email your plans and a list of specifications about the home being planned. We will then provide you with a PROJECTED RATING which will show what the home should score upon completion. This review may take several days, and should be done as soon as all the information is available. We will work with you to make suggestions for any changes that may help bring the score into compliance with the code.

STEP 2
T.B.C.
The THERMAL BYPASS CHECKLIST is a post-insulation, pre-drywall checklist we complete to ensure that all areas are insulated and air sealed before being covered. Builders should be prepared to make a few minor corrections, and may wish to have the insulation contractors present during the inspection. We will also be visually inspecting any ductwork and framing which affects energy use of the home. A copy of the checklist is available at the website if you wish to review it before inspection.
STEP 3
FINAL TESTING
Once construction is complete, the rater will verify the assumptions made during the plan review and projected rating. The rater will also conduct a BLOWER DOOR AND DUCT BLASTER TEST to verify air tightness of the building envelope and duct system. Testing will take approximately one hour. The home must be 99% complete before testing: windows and doors adjusted to fit, plumbing fixtures and flooring installed, drain traps filled, HVAC registers installed and system operating, etc.
STEP 4
THAT'S IT!
After final testing, and if the home does not need additional testing, your final ENERGY RATING CERTIFICATE will arrive in four to five business days. You will need to show this CONFIRMED RATING in order to obtain your occupancy permit. If you have qualified for any additional tax credits or rebates as a result of the rating, the forms for those incentives will arrive with your rating reports.
Notes
» 100% of the projected rating can be done via e-mail, snail-mail, and telephone. Turnaround time is approximately 48 hours.
» Standard rating fee for a home with 3000 square feet or less and one heating system is $550 plus expenses (mileage, postage, etc.)
» A $100 deposit is due with each projected rating.
» A projected rating submission form and a link to upload your plans will be available on our website very soon.
» Visit www.GreatLakesHomePerformance.com for the latest changes to the code and more tools to help you build a better home.
